Create a local evidence index

Add non-sensitive file names and factual notes. Files are read only in this browser to calculate a SHA-256 reference; they are never uploaded.

No files or notes added yet.

02

Set the handoff context

The exported manifest identifies records without including their contents.

The file contents, notes, metadata, and hashes remain in this browser tab until you export them.

A cleaner handoff

Know what you saved and why.

A small, factual index is easier to review than a folder of unnamed screenshots and mixed personal files.

Reference the exact bytes

SHA-256 gives the same identifier when the file bytes are unchanged. The entire calculation happens in your browser.

Keep originals separate

The manifest indexes records but never embeds or modifies the source files. Store originals in a secure location you control.

Minimize private details

Use general notes and times. Leave names, exact addresses, booking numbers, access codes, and unrelated personal content out.

An index is not a certificate.

The builder does not establish authenticity, identity, time, location, wrongdoing, legal chain of custody, or whether an object is a recording device.

Evidence manifest FAQ

Privacy, hashes, and limits

Are my photos or documents uploaded?

No. The browser reads a selected file locally only to calculate its SHA-256 hash. The original file and its contents are not sent to the site.

What does a SHA-256 hash prove?

It is a repeatable identifier for the same file bytes. It does not prove when a file was created, what it depicts, who created it, or whether an allegation is true.

Does the downloaded manifest include my files?

No. The text manifest contains the file name, optional general time and note, file size, and local hash. Keep original files separately.

Is this a legal evidence service?

No. It is a personal organizer and does not certify authenticity, preserve legal chain of custody, identify a device, or replace professional advice.
